Things that Make you go HUH?

We get a lot of 'odd' phonecalls in the industry I work in, cuz, there are a lot of paranoid people out there.

This is a voicemail message we received today...

"Hi my name is XXXX and, I am trying to find somebody who can, like, scan my car, or something, to see if there’s something on it that could be sending signals cause my brother’s got this, um, security system, he bragged and said that he could tell within two miles of who was coming and all this stuff, but it just seems weird that like I'll be coming from work, I work at XXX-XXXX, and they'll be waiting out in their driveway, um just to intimidate me, but um, we’re having a lot of trouble with him, but um, I was wondering if you would know anybody that could check my car, I have uh uh an O-4 outback, uh to see if there’s something on it that would send them a signal, um, I I… give me a call my name is XXXX, if you, if you do have a solution for me, and my uh, phone number is XXX-XXXX, uh, thank you so much, buh-bye."

Yup.... lot of paranoid people out there!

Pay it Forward Friday Challenge - Day 4

the Challenge - for 1 week, do a small random act of kindness each day; or 1 big (interpret big however works for you) act of kindness, and when appropriate ask the recipient to pay it forward.

Headed out on my lunch break today, with the intention of finding someone I could do something nice for. I was thinking I would pay for someone's lunch at a local fast food place... On my way, I pass a homeless family, asking for more than just money, but for help with a job or somewhere to live. I don't have those resources, but the gentle nudging my head & heart said to do something. I was near a grocery store, so I went in and bought a $50 gift card. my thinking is that it wasn't a lot, but it could buy some fresh fruit, milk and/or juice for the children if nothing else. Maybe some toiletries.

I drive up and wave to the family to come over and the lady comes over and I give her the card. She thanks me and returns back to her family. The man looks at it like I just offended them. Although, as I drive away, he nods an aknowledgement to me, and I smiled and nodded back, I am left doubting. Did I make a wrong choice? Was a gift card not that helpful when what they really need is to get money together to pay rent? Shouldn't it feel good to try and help?

Maybe I am reading too much into the look on his face. Maybe the humility of begging for his family, with his children there is more than he can bear.

Thoughts?

Pay it Forward Friday

The Challenge:

Perform 1 small random act of kindness each day for 1 week; OR 1 large act of kindness within a week. When possible, ask the recipient to pay if forward.

In these uncertain times, so many people are stressed to their limits. If each one of us can find a way to share a moment of kindness with someone in our community, and then it gets paid forward, maybe someone somewhere will be reminded that hope and love still exist. Please take up the challenge!

Everything I Need to Know....

... I Learned
from the Easter Bunny...

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Walk softly and carry a big carrot.

Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.

There's no such thing as too much candy.

All work and no play can make you a basket case.

A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention.

Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.

Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.

Some body parts should be floppy.

Keep your paws off other people's jellybeans.

Good things come in small-sugarcoated packages.

The grass is greener in someone else's basket.

An Easter bonnet can cover the wildest hare.

To show your true colors,

you have to come out of your shell.

The best things in life

are still sweet and gooey.

Old Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Until We Meet Again - Barrage
